Having retained a breadth of clients across the broad span of her practice with 25 years’ call to the Bar, Melinda is a knowledgeable and respected attorney whose principal areas of practice include residential and commercial property, financing and acquisition, corporate, immigration, probate, maritime, aviation, and foreign direct investment. She joined the firm in September 2018, where she became a Partner in March 2019, and currently heads the firm’s Conveyancing and Real Property Department.
Melinda was called to both the Bar of England and Wales and The Bahamas Bar in 2001, and is a Member of The Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, the Bahamas Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association.
She attained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, minoring in Marketing and Sociology, from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 1998. Following this, she read law in the accelerated two-year program at the University of Leeds, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws Degree with Hons. in 2000. She then attended BPP University in London, England, where she successfully passed the Bar Vocational Course in 2001.
Melinda has been featured on publications in The Bahamas Investor, The Nassau Guardian, and The World Bank Group, and moderated the firm’s Arbitration and Investment: Caribbean, Latin America and Other Emerging Markets practice group from 2019 to 2023.
Melinda has a passion for charity work, and has served as a Secretary on the Board of Directors for Hands for Hunger Bahamas and Popop Studios for the Visual Arts for over 10 years. She is an avid art supporter and art collector.
In her spare time, she enjoys pilates, peloton, interior design, cooking and traveling.
